"A Star & Stripes"
Limited Edition Release to Benefit
the NY Police & Fire Widows' & Childrens Benefit Fund,
known as Answer the Call

Special Promotional Period through May 31, 2019 (see below)

I started this series, immediately after 9/11. I turned from the work I was creating, and took up the flag and its’ stars as the symbols that would become the main visual language for these abstracted and expressive paintings.

Once completed, I tucked the canvases away. They represented an emotional time for me and everyone I knew. (The paintings were later exhibited in several venues, including a 9/11 group exhibit at Bernstein Gallery, Princeton University, and at the Montclair University Museum.) As I reviewed the series, I felt it was time to finally share them again.

This artwork is the first print we’ve ever published from the series. I’ve titled it, “A Star & Stripes.”  One of the first paintings completed, it encapsulates it all — a strong visual combining the concept of stars and stripes with a vibrancy of colors — a strong, red, white and blue theme. The star has been a symbol on our flag, since 1777, and my purpose in isolating the iconic symbol of the star of the American flag for this series, was to convey the enduring strength of this country that I love.

The Limited Edition with Hand Painting
“A Star & Stripes” is now available as a limited edition print of only 100 pieces (plus Artist Proofs.) Due to the importance of this work and, because a portion of proceeds benefit charity, I will include Complimentary Hand Painting on every print. This means that in addition to being a numbered edition, your print will be a unique artwork, as none can be the same, painted by my own hand (I do not have studio assistants.) Each one will truly be unique.

The Donation

I am very honored to have found a highly worthwhile charity to donate a portion of print sales proceeds. Proceeds will benefit the NY Police & Fire Widow’s & Children’s Benefit Fund, known as “Answer the Call” (www.answerthecall.org). This Fund supports the families of our brave New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. These Officers and their brave families, truly are the "Stars" of my Star series.
The standard donation amount will be 15% of the gross retail print price (excluding framing, shipping, taxes.) However, during the initial release month of May, I am increasing the donation amount to 20% of the gross retail print price (excluding framing, shipping, taxes) through May 31, 2019.

I was compelled by great emotion to create this body of work. I feel no less emotion today, as my memories of that fateful day, and the days that followed, have not faded. I am glad to finally be able to share my work with you through this unique edition, and especially to support “Answer the Call” as they assist the families of our brave heroes who have been killed in the line of duty.
Should you like to add “A Star & Stripes” to your collection, I would be most honored...
